It's called Hurling. It has nothing to do with vomiting or ice. What it is though, is the greatest sport you've never played. Hurling is on of the national sports of Ireland (under the GAA) and has been played for over 2,000 years!
When I was doing research into the genealogy of my family, I found out that both of my Grandmothers could trace back their ancestry to the same area of Ireland: County Tyrone. I saw a link to the GAA, and curiosity drew me to a video introducing the game of Hurling. Within 20 seconds I said to myself, "I want to do that!" Without further ado, here's a great look at the sport of hurling, with some highlights from this years Semi-Finals, County Cork vs. County Dublin. Oh, and when they get done with the match here, they go back to their day jobs. At even the highest level it's still considered an "amateur" sport, due to the fact that no one gets paid to play. They play for the pride of their County. Awesome.
